We Connect with Lauren Dean
Welcome back everyone as we enter into March! Spring is finally on the horizon...
We are very excited to have one of our new Love My Mind partners on the broadcast. Lauren Dean is 22 years old and a Bachelor of Social Work student through the University of Regina in Saskatoon, SK.
Lauren has an outgoing personality, she is understanding and approachable. She is fiercely loyal and caring and will always have your back. She attracts positivity and radiates happiness through her smile (which lights up a room).
Lauren began struggling with her mental health when she was 16 years old and was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety shortly after. Throughout high school, Lauren was heavily bullied which in turn, resulted in the worsening of her mental health and wellness. Through the experiences that Lauren has lived through, she is passionate about providing mental health and bullying prevention and intervention strategies to individuals of all ages.
When she isn’t working or attending classes, you will find her advocating and working with Youth Matter Canada, at the hockey rink cheering on her brother, or spending time with her boyfriend playing outside with their puppy, Bella.
YOUth Matter is a non-profit organization founded in Melfort, Saskatchewan, dedicated to providing mental health awareness, support, and opportunities for meaningful connection for youth and families in Melfort and area.
Our mission is to cultivate meaningful and purposeful connections for youth through inclusive and safe spaces, giving them a voice and tools to support their mental health. We also value providing peer support groups and connecting youth and families with community support systems already in place to help support their wellness.
